Solutions

Your QuickBooks will crash in between its functions without any warning, leading to an instant termination of the ongoing accounting tasks. You can get rid of the crashing issue by applying the following techniques on your PC-

Solution 1- Repair the QBWUSER.ini and entitlement.ecml file stored on your system

QuickBooks is dependent on its program files for retrieving data required for it to run smoothly. The software struggles to run and can even crash unexpectedly if it fails to access its program files, or they fail to run. QBWUSER.ini is one of the program files that stores information of all the user accounts you use to access the company files. The software runs this file to verify your identity and prevent unauthorized access to the financial data. However, the software crashes instantly when it fails to run this file due to its corrupt format. You must fix the file using the steps below-

  • Open the file explorer and go to C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Intuit\QuickBooksXX.

  • Right-click the QBWUSER.ini and entitlement.ecml files individually.

  • Select the Rename option and add ‘.old’ as an extension to both files without changing their names.

  • Save both files with their new name and try running QuickBooks again.

Solution 2- Launch QuickBooks with Administrator access

QBDT can also struggle to run and crash inappropriately when it fails to run its background processes or access its program files from your system drives. You’ll have to grant admin rights to your QuickBooks to ensure it doesn’t get blocked while running. You can either sign in from your Windows admin account or run QuickBooks in admin mode as shown in the following steps-

  • Right-click the QuickBooks.exe file you use to open the software.

  • Select the Properties option and move under the Compatibility tab.

  • Single-click the Run this program as Administrator checkbox to mark it and save the settings by clicking Apply.
